Illustrator of The Week: Old Continent Design | TheHungryJPEG

Old Continent Design or also known as Aneta Design is a traditional artist who loves painting on a piece of paper. Wondering how she can illustrate tons of designs in her shop? Let’s get to know Aneta and listen to her story!

Could you tell us about yourself?

I’m Aneta and I run a small family company. Me and two of my co-workers are working as graphics designers. I’m the person who organizes work for my team and we specialize in creating watercolor graphics illustrations. From time to time we also create stickers and planner sheets. We are growing our portfolio every day!

How long have you been in this industry?

I have been in this industry for about 3 – 4 years.

When did you know you wanted to pursue designing and start selling it?

In 2017 I decided that I would like to work from home and make something creative! My research showed me that creating graphics is a wonderful idea for business. Thanks to many online platforms, I could show our products to a worldwide audience.

I also had an inspiration from my sister who always painted in watercolor. One day, I had an idea that together we could open an online shop. My sister created our first product named “Alice in Wonderland”. We uploaded it and that is how it started! When we saw that people like our graphics and are happy to use them, I decided that this business will be my only job and day by day it grows! It was the best decision of my life! I’m really happy right now.

What inspires you the most? Where do you get your inspiration?

I’m constantly looking at people’s needs and trying to give them what they want. I try to follow the trends. For example during summer I’m thinking about nature & holiday topics etc. In our small team we are always brainstorming and then we work on our projects individually.

Are you a traditional or digital artist? What are your preferred mediums to create your designs and graphics?

Almost all our watercolor graphics were painted by hand and then scanned into digital form. I think that nothing is better than watercolor and paper.

Could you describe your design style?

Definitely mixed! Me and my team love new ideas. We have watercolor graphics, planners and lately vintage graphics.

What is your favorite part of the designing process?

I like this moment when I finished my listing and it’s ready to be uploaded. Then I’m happy that what was in my head now exists.

Have you ever experienced creative blocks before? How did you handle it?

Never! Even during my holiday I like to think about what I will create after I’m back home.
