Could you tell us about yourself?

Hi. My name is Hsinyi, I’m a freelance illustrator from Taiwan. I love seeing and drawing cute animals. I enjoy visiting plant markets, and have a little house plant garden in my studio. Dusk is my favorite time of the day, I like to watch the colors changing in the sky.

How long have you been in this industry?

I have been in this industry for about 5 years and above.

When did you know you wanted to pursue designing and start selling it?

I started my art career back around six to seven years ago. At that time I was mainly taking commission projects. Drawing what I was told to, and meeting deadlines. A few years later, I felt that I wanted more freedom in what I draw and when I draw it. I found designing graphic resources is a perfect fit for me. I can draw pretty much anything I like, and I upload it whenever I’m ready to.

What inspires you the most? Where do you get your inspiration?

Animals and nature inspire me the most. I get my inspiration from many different places, such as hiking in the mountains, walking in the fields, wandering around in museums, watching films, reading books or browsing on Pinterest.

Are you a traditional or digital artist? What are your preferred mediums to create your designs and graphics?

Traditional. My favorite medium is watercolor. I love how the pigments flow with the water and create all kinds of textures on paper.

Could you describe your design style?

I would say my design style is cute and playful. I like to express the feeling of brightness and joy through my designs.

What is your favorite part of the designing process?

When I’m sketching out my ideas with a pencil.

Have you ever experienced creative blocks before? How did you handle it?

Yes. Sometimes overworking myself could cause creative blocks. I usually take a break from working and do some leisure stuff in life. I found that clearly separating work time and break time helps reduce the chance of creative blocks, and a regular routine also helps me to concentrate while working. I also keep a to-do list so I always have something to refer to when I feel lack of motivation.

If there is something you wish The Hungry JPEG could do for you, tell us.

It would be great to be able to upload multiple listing images at once, and to be able to rearrange the order of the images after upload. But overall, TheHungryJPEG team is so nice and helpful. I’m very happy sharing my work with the world on TheHungryJPEG.
