This time around, THJ would love to share one of the talented illustrators who is able to create tons of cute designs for children that will definitely enhance your creative projects. Let’s get to know Daria, the owner of Magic & Dreams from our interview session below!

Could you tell us about yourself?

Hi. I live in Russia and I love to draw especially cute drawings for children. During my free time, I like to draw children’s books and read books. I am inspired by the creation of drawings; nature, music and my daughter.

How long have you been in this industry?

I have been in this industry for about 5 years and above.

When did you know you wanted to pursue designing and start selling it?

I didn’t think about it in advance. Once my husband told me – there are such sites where they sell drawings and asked me to give it a try! I tried it and am still here! This is an amazing opportunity to create things and be needed by others.

What inspires you the most? Where do you get your inspiration?

I already answered this question a little at the beginning. I really love nature and music. But the main inspiration is my daughter. Because she is a child, and I paint for children.

Are you a traditional or digital artist? What are your preferred mediums to create your designs and graphics?

I am more of a digital artist because I sell the final product digitally. But I start any project with drawings on paper.

Could you describe your design style?

Now I am working in two directions and I like both of them very much; The first is vector graphics, cute and stylized drawings. The second direction is raster graphics.

What is your favorite part of the designing process?

It’s hard to say. Probably the beginning process – when an idea comes, I create it and finally, when I’m able to see what came out of it.

Have you ever experienced creative blocks before? How did you handle it?

Very clearly not. Creative blocks happen when you get tired or dissatisfied with your work. The work and rest schedule helps here. Rest is needed, as it will fill up with impressions, which then help to create. Fatigue passes and there is strength to work again. It’s more difficult with an internal critic. Here, a look from the outside will help. Understand what you don’t like and how you can fix it. As well as looking at new, inspiring projects.
