It’s time to get to know another talented illustrator, Elena from Elena Dorosh store on TheHungryJPEG. Her strong passion and interest for watercolor arts have made her into one great artist that never fails to publish tons of elegant designs in Elena Dorosh store. As much as Elena loves watercolor, she also let herself walk into digital artworks. Let’s read more about Elena from our interview session below!

Could you tell us about yourself?

Hi. My name is Elena. I am a graphic designer and illustrator from Russia. For many years I worked as a teacher and at the same time forgot about my work. Several years ago I started painting again and fell in love with watercolor. I also use digital art and this is a real opportunity to work not only at home. I’m happy to grab my iPad and be creative anywhere.

How long have you been in this industry?

I have been in this industry for about 3 – 4 years.

When did you know you wanted to pursue designing and start selling it?

I started painting in early childhood. And apart from childish pranks, it was really what fascinated me. I was educated as an architect-designer, I dreamed of being an interior designer, but it turned out that this was not what I needed. Several years ago I gave birth to my son and I had some free time. I learned that you can make money with your drawings. I started to draw vector illustrations and sell them to stocks. Then I remembered the watercolor and loved it again. I started to create watercolors and opened my shop in TheHungryJPEG.

What inspires you the most? Where do you get your inspiration?

I am inspired by the nature of my land as I live in the most beautiful corner of the earth. We have hot summers and very cold and long winters. We have a wonderful huge country that inspires me to be creative.

Are you a traditional or digital artist? What are your preferred mediums to create your designs and graphics?

I am really in love with watercolor, but recently I have discovered digital art. iPad gives unlimited possibilities and the ability to work anytime and anywhere.

Could you describe your design style?

I cannot define my style of drawing, I like many things and would like to try out everything. I cannot limit myself to one thing, I get too bored, and this is not what I like.

What is your favorite part of the designing process?

I really love to draw, but this is only a small part of the work. The process of registration of products takes a very long time. I love both, one cannot be imagined without the other

Have you ever experienced creative blocks before? How did you handle it?

I often experience periods of devastation as I suffer from depression and receive treatment from a therapist. Psychotherapy helps to cope with blocks in work. I also allow myself to have various small pleasures and praise myself even for small successes. Long walks in the woods and a small sports load also help me to feel better and give strength for creativity.

Do you have any advice or tips for future graphic designers out there?

I want to advise you not to compare yourself with others, to praise and love yourself. Everyone has their own path in creativity.

If there is something you wish The Hungry JPEG could do for you, Tell us.

I would like TheHungryJPEG to develop further. Maybe there are automatic sales and different pricing policies for extended licenses.
