Could you tell us about yourself?

I’m a graphic designer based in Dnipro City in Ukraine. I have more than 20 years of experience in various design areas, such as branding, label & packaging design, 3D modelling etc. But now my main specialisation is making fonts.

How long have you been in this industry?

I have been in this industry for about 5 years and above.

When did you know you wanted to pursue designing and start selling it?

I earned my first money on the packaging design of some boxes of chocolate in early 1999. At that time I was still studying at school and after classes I had a kind of a job in one humble local design/photo studio.

What inspires you the most? Where do you get your inspiration?

As for me you’ll never know when or where an inspiration will find you. Maybe the key is to be attentive to the things that surround you, and to look at the world through the design prism. Also I think it’s very helpful to have different hobbies, like playing on a guitar or assembling lego or whatever. Because it helps to not to be stuck in one place, and besides can be a great source of inspiration. And the main thing is to love what you do!

Are you a traditional or digital artist? What are your preferred mediums to create your designs and graphics?

I’m totally a fan of digital media. In the past I had an experience in classic art, like oil painting, drawing, etc. But nowadays I prefer digital tools and I even prefer to sketch on an iPad, as it’s much more convenient for me.

Could you describe your design style?

Hopefully I can make designs in different styles. Maybe best of all I’m good in vintage style, also 3D fonts and lettering is my last passion.

What is your favorite part of the designing process?

The most fun part is just a start, when the idea was just born and it begins to visualise.

Have you ever experienced creative blocks before? How did you handle it?

I think such blocks are a natural part of a process. I experience it after finishing almost each project. The key to pass through it, is an understanding that it’s totally fine not to be a creative person for 24 hours in a day. Just take a rest, communicate with your family and friends, switch to your hobby for a while.
